There are three main holy shrines in Iran: Imam Reza’s in Mashhad, Masuma’s In Qom and Shah Cheragh in Shiraz.
The list of other non-famous shrines and tombs is endless. These religious memorials attract thousands of Muslim tourists from all around the world; middle eastern countries to be particular. Iran is a perfect holiday destination for Muslims for there isn’t going to be a cultural gap and halal food is available everywhere. Even in most hotels in Mashhad and Qom, it is pretty easy to find people who speak Arabic.
This article is a guide for those who want to travel to Iran on a Pilgrimage (ziarat) visa. This visa is called “Type C”.

Iran pilgrimage visa Duration

The duration of your visa depends on your arrival and departure dates. For example, if you indicate that your arrival is on 1/1/2020 and your departure from Iran is going to be on 14/1/2020, then you will be granted with a visa that is valid for 14 days. However, it is not likely that you get a visa for more than 30 days. If you intend to stay in Iran for more than a month, you should get a visa for 30 days at first and when you are in Iran, apply for an Iran visa extension. In this case, you should go to the police station for foreigners and explain why you need to stay longer and what your plans are. The officer will decide if you are eligible for a visa extension or not.
