Tehran, the biggest and busiest city of Iran, hosts millions of people every year. Museums, fine art centers, huge exhibitions, great hospitals, prime companies, old bazaars and a fascinating blend of different cultures have made Tehran the most visited city in Iran. As an expat who has been living in the capital since 2013, I would say there is no best or worst time to visit for Tehran. However, in the article below you will find a guide on what you can do in Tehran in each season, so you would plan your trip according to your own priorities.

Winter is the best time to visit Tehran
January, February, March
Tehran doesn’t get as cold as European cities in Winter. It snows but not much. You will do fine outdoors with a warm jacket and a hat.
The museums, palaces, and bazaars are the best shelter in the cold days during your visit.
Regarding your accommodation, my best suggestion is to stay in Tehran Heritage Hostel for you can spend your nights in a lively and gleeful atmosphere with other travelers. It never gets boring there.
Are you a fan of skiing?
Tehran has a couple of ski resorts not far away from the city. Dizin, Shemshak, and Tochal are the main ski spots near Tehran. You don’t need to bother bring your equipment to Iran; everything is available to rent and even if you are an amateur, you can get a short training course beforehand.
Suggested hotels to stay: Dizin hotel, Shemshak resort hotel,
Spring is the best time to visit Tehran
April, May, June
Tehran enjoys the most pleasant weather in the Spring, particularly in April. Spring evenings are the best time to go on short picnics in the parks of Tehran or to take a long walk along Valiasr Street (the longest street in the middle east).
If you are a hiking/ walking person, I would recommend you to stay in one of the hotels in the Northern part and be close to Darakeh, Darband, Tochal, Jamshidieh park ( kolakchal) and Golab dareh.
Suggested hotels: Espinas Palace hotel
Summer is the best time to visit Tehran
July, August, September
If you were born and raised in a cold country, Summer is not probably the best time for you to visit Tehran. I know Google tells you it will be around 38-40 degrees and that might sound OK but you should know that the long-running heavy traffic of Tehran doubles the heat.
Summer nights are perfect for night rides around the city and also nocturnal hiking.

One simple way of escaping the heat is to have a private driver-guide during your trip. It allows you to visit as many places as you want without getting irritated by the temperature. If you need more information regarding this option, feel free to contact 1stQuest support team at [email protected]

Autumn is the best time to visit Tehran
October, November, December
Colorful streets and hot coffee in cafes call you to pay them a visit in Tehran Autumn.
The first half of the fall is suitable for hiking in the natural resorts around Tehran and the second half is time to ski on the fresh snow there.
The pleasing cool breeze of the fall gives you the chance to enjoy walking between the historical monuments in the heart of the capital. Seems like Autumn has it all.
