The tour starts in Muscat, where your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning at 8:30.
After a 1.5 hours drive, we’ll reach Oman’s former capital, Nizwa. We first head to the emerald-green village of Birkat Al Mouz, located at the feet of Jebel Akhdar. We’ll enjoy a relaxing walk among gigantic banana leaves in the green banana plantations.
Next, we’ll visit Nizwa’s Fort. The fort is enormous, surrounded by pink Damask roses, and has a view of the mountains straight from a movie. You can then enjoy walking in the “Falaj” irrigation system, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to AD 500.
Then, we will visit Nizwa’s center, where you can find Nizwa’s Fort with its massive circular cannon tower, making it the most impressive fort in Oman. We will walk through the traditional Nizwa Souq, adore its colorful chambers and perfume scent, and then have an authentic Omani lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, we’ll visit Green Mountain’s plateau (Jebel Al Akhdar) to drink over the fruit farms, ravines, and hamlets below, covering the ground below us like a patchwork quilt. This unique Arabian Peninsula location is 2000 meters above the sea, where you take in the refreshing sea and mountain air while gazing down on the numerous villages on the Saiq plateau. These villages are famous for their ancient irrigation channels (or Falaj), providing water, pink rose water, and perfumes. At night, we will get back to Muscat.
