How do I enter metro stations? There are two options:<\/h2>\n

1. Buying a single-trip ticket. This is a good option if you are going to use the metro just a couple of times.
\n2. Buying a \u201ctransportation card\u201d. The card can be used for metro, bus and BRT lines in the city.<\/p>\n

BRT<\/h2>\n

BRT stands for Bus Rapid Transit. BRT lines cruise the main highways in Tehran. The main BRT lines move east-west wise or south-north wise. The only way to use a BRT it to have a \u201ctransportation card\u201d or ask another person to tap his card for you\u2014if you are lucky to \ufb01nd one.

Taxi in Tehran<\/h2>\n

Shared taxis or shuttle taxis are pretty common in Tehran. Four strangers going to the same destination get a cab and share the cost. Sounds legit, Nah?

In the metro, the \ufb01rst and last compartments are dedicated to women only. It means women can use all the compartments but men are not allowed to enter the women’s area.
\nIn the busses, men sit in the front half and women in the back half.
